How this review was built Evidence, sources, refresh cadence
- Evidence: 1 pet-mention guest review sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 26 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 7.7/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: October 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.
Pet policy at a glance
- Up to 2 pets per booking.
- The garden is shared with the neighbouring cottage.
Pet-friendly summary
2 Park Nook Close is a cottage on the west Cumbrian coast strip, and for a dog it offers the two things that matter most in this corner of the county: an outdoor space to let them off the lead in, and some of the best beach walking in the north west a short drive away.
Up to two pets can stay. The outdoor space is enclosed, but the garden is shared with the neighbouring cottage, and so are the gates: they need opening and closing every time anyone comes and goes. That is the difference between a secure space and an open one, so make sure everyone in your party knows before the dog goes out. The neighbours keep dogs of their own, which is worth knowing if yours is reactive.
The practical set-up is good. There is a pub next door serving food, which counts for a lot somewhere this rural, a village shop about five minutes on foot, and parking on site. The cottage looks out towards the sea and the sunsets earn a mention in almost every review. Drigg beach is a few minutes up the road with miles of open sand and dune, and Ravenglass, the western fells and Scafell Pike are all within an easy drive.
Be clear-eyed about the condition. This is a comfortable, well-stocked cottage rather than a polished one: guests describe tired fittings, a basic kitchen and, on one stay, a boiler that gave trouble. Most still rate it good value for the location, but nobody calls it smart. The other recurring complaint is the road. The A595 runs past the front and is busier than the setting suggests, so light sleepers should factor that in.
Only one stay with a dog has been reviewed here so far, so treat the picture as an early one. Best suited to walkers with one or two dogs who want the coast and the western Lakes on the doorstep and will trade some polish for the setting and the price.
