- Evidence: 10 pet-mention guest reviews sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 66 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 9.6/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.

Pet-friendly summary
Avocet House is a little seaside cottage that goes out of its way to make dogs feel at home, and it shows in what guests say. A few minutes from the prom and the famous striped cliffs of Hunstanton, it earns a 4.8/5 paw rating, with guests who brought dogs almost uniformly delighted.
The hosts clearly travel with dogs in mind. Guests find towels, bowls, biscuits and treats waiting, along with wine and flowers for the humans, and the courtyard garden is secure enough that owners of climbing terriers were happy to let them out. It is set up for a couple and their dog, with a comfortable bed, fresh-smelling linen, washing facilities and a warm, cosy feel that several guests compared to a home from home.
Location is a big part of the appeal. The street is quiet, parking is right outside, and the beach, prom and town centre are all easy walks. Hunstanton itself is a relaxed place to holiday with a dog, with plenty of space for walks along the shore and sunsets over the Wash.
The only recurring caveat is the stairs, which are steep and narrow and worth bearing in mind for older or less mobile dogs and owners. A couple of guests also found the television reception patchy, and the back garden is a courtyard rather than a lawn, so longer runs mean heading to the beach or along the clifftops.
For a couple and their dog looking for a thoughtful, well-kept base by the sea in Norfolk, Avocet House is an excellent pick.
