Beach Hut is a small, well-finished cottage at Trebarwith Strand on the north Cornwall coast, a few doors from the sea and directly on the coast path. For dog owners it is about as well placed as a Cornish bolthole gets: the sandy beach below the cottage allows dogs, the cliff path starts at the door, and the pub a minute's walk behind is a dog-friendly one with a view over the cove. Up to two pets can stay.
What guests with dogs mention most is the welcome. Arrivals are met with a cream tea, milk and fresh flowers, and dogs are left a welcome kit of their own with biscuits included - a small touch, but one that comes up in almost every review from a dog owner. The cottage itself is compact and immaculately kept, with a small enclosed yard and a picnic table out the back that guests describe as secure enough to leave a dog pottering in.
The beach is the reason to come and also the thing to plan around. It is sandy and dog-friendly, but it is tidal, and guests note it can shrink to almost nothing for much of the day and only properly appear for a couple of hours. The cliff walks make up for it and are the standout of the location, though they are genuinely steep, which is fine for a fit dog and a fit owner and less so otherwise.
Being a one-room cottage, it is best suited to a couple with one or two dogs rather than a family. Guests report the sofa bed is on the firm side and the wifi comes and goes, which is worth knowing if you were planning to work from here. Neither complaint touches the dog side of the stay.
