- Evidence: 2 pet-mention guest reviews sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 28 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 9.7/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: October 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.

Pet-friendly summary
Belle Vue is a duplex apartment a few minutes' walk from the centre of Ilkley, and it is about as easy a town base for a dog as West Yorkshire offers. There is a small park directly across the front, an enclosed garden at the back where a dog can be let off the lead, and Ilkley Moor rising behind the town for the proper walks. The station and the town's shops and cafes are a five to fifteen minute walk depending on which end you are heading for.
House rules allow one well-behaved dog, and the welcome extends beyond the front door. Ilkley is an unusually dog-friendly town: guests travelling with dogs mention shop staff handing out treats as they browse, and plenty of places happy to have a dog under the table. The owner leaves a gift on arrival and sorts the residents' parking permit before guests get there, which removes the usual town-centre headache of arriving with a car, luggage and a dog at once.
The apartment itself is spacious, spotless and properly equipped, with good quality bedding and towels and enough room to move around - not always true of a town flat. It is quiet, which matters if a dog barks at corridor noise.
A few small things. The heating takes some working out and some of the bedroom radiators have been found weak, so ask for instructions rather than guessing on a cold night. The fridge door only opens fully with the kitchen door shut. Neither is more than a minor irritation.
Best suited to owners who want to walk into a good town with their dog, use the moor for exercise and leave the car parked - and who would rather have a garden and a park at the door than a rural cottage.
