How this review was built Evidence, sources, refresh cadence
- Evidence: 1 pet-mention guest review sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 8 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 8.5/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: October 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.

Pet-friendly summary
Cheviot View is a small house in Beadnell, a few minutes on foot from one of the best dog-walking beaches on the Northumberland coast. Beadnell Bay is a long sweep of sand that stays walkable in most weather, and the village shop and pubs are the same short walk in the other direction, which makes this an easy base for a dog who wants two beach walks a day.
Up to two pets are welcome per booking, so it works for a two-dog household as well as a one-dog one. Inside, the house is set up for self-catering rather than for show: a good-sized kitchen with a proper table to eat at, and a conservatory that guests tend to gravitate to. The hosts leave milk and bread out for arrivals and are quick to answer a message.
The beach is the reason to book. You can be on the sand within a few minutes of leaving the door, and the coastal path opens up longer days north towards Seahouses and south towards Newton-by-the-Sea without needing the car at all.
Two things temper that. Parking is off-street but tight, which is worth knowing if you arrive with a car full of dog kit. More seriously, the standard of the changeover clean is not consistent: guests have reported clumps of dog hair left on furniture legs, stained mattress protectors on both the single and double beds, a vacuum cleaner that smelled strongly of wet dog, and very little in the way of cleaning products left in the house. At a property that takes dogs this matters more than it would elsewhere. Check the bedding when you arrive and ask for anything that needs replacing rather than working around it.
Best suited to a dog owner booking for the beach rather than the interior, who will speak up if the changeover has been rushed. It earns a 4.3/5 paw rating.
