Pet-friendly summary
Cosy Bee is a well-stocked little seaside cottage set up with dog owners firmly in mind. It sits in Heysham, moments from the shore and the coastal path, and guests who brought their dogs give it a 4.5/5 paw rating.
Up to two dogs can stay. Guests find throws for the furniture, dog bowls, blankets, a bean bag, games and even poo bags already in place. The enclosed back garden is fully secure, laid out on different levels with plants to sniff, and gives dogs somewhere safe to potter between walks.
The location is the other big plus. The walk over the headland leads to Half Moon Bay with its beach and cafe, the promenade path runs into Morecambe, and Arnside, Silverdale and the Crook o' Lune are a short drive away. Heysham itself is quiet, and the neighbours are often described as friendly.
Cleanliness is where opinions split. Several stays praise a spotless cottage, but others found dog hair in the corners and behind doors, a lingering smell in the living room that they put down to a previous dog, and dishes not quite clean on arrival. One guest asked for a second door key and was refused. It is worth a quick look round when you arrive. The sofa also comes in for criticism as uncomfortable, the drive is steep and the parking tight for a large car, and the lounge is snug for more than two adults.
Best for a couple with one or two small dogs who want walks on the doorstep and a secure garden by the sea, and who don't mind a modest, well-used cottage.
