Embrace the Space, Cynwyl Elfed

Embrace the Space is a small glamping site of spacious yurts in the countryside near Cynwyl Elfed, north of Carmarthen, and it is a lovely choice for getting away from it all with a dog. Dog owners rate it almost without fault, earning it a 4.7/5 paw rating.

Each yurt sits in its own private patch with plenty of outdoor space, so dogs have room to explore and there is good walking right around the site. Inside, the yurts are big and cosy, with a log burner, a comfortable bed and sofa and a kitchenette, and the bathroom has a good shower. Outside, the wood-fired hot tub is the highlight of most stays.

The host, Anthony, gets glowing feedback for his welcome, showing guests how everything works and helping to get fires going when needed. A welcome basket with local cider and essentials waits on arrival, and there is an honesty shop on site. The owners' own friendly dog often comes to say hello, which is worth knowing if your dog is wary of others.

The setting is rural Carmarthenshire, with big sunsets, and beaches and small towns within a short drive. Main roads are not far away, but a car is essential.

A couple of caveats. This is still glamping, so the path to the facilities is dark at night, although a security light comes on as you approach. Guests have also mentioned dogs at a neighbouring property barking into the late evening. Up to two dogs can stay in each yurt for an extra charge, and dogs need to be kept on a lead; the amount of the charge is not published, so confirm it with the host when booking.
