Pet-friendly summary
Farriers Cottage is a stylish little cottage in the pretty village of Ingham, about eight miles north of Lincoln, and it is a favourite with couples who travel with their dogs. The private hot tub is the star of almost every stay, and with countryside walks virtually on the doorstep it earns a 4.7/5 paw rating.
Up to two pets are allowed per booking, and dogs from small breeds to Labradors have stayed happily. The cottage is kept spotless, furnished to a high standard and warmed by a real fire in the living room, and the host is helpful and leaves thoughtful little touches for arrival.
Ingham itself is a big part of the appeal. The Inn on the Green, a couple of minutes' walk away, welcomes dogs even in the restaurant and is well liked for its food and hot chocolate, though check opening times as it does not open every day. The village shop covers the essentials, and jets flying from nearby RAF Scampton add some entertainment on walks.
The outdoor space needs a clear caveat. Part of the original plot has been built on as a separate property, and some guests arrived to find only one parking space, access by the back door only and no lawn for their dog, which did not match the photos they had booked from. Other dog owners describe a secure, enclosed area with the hot tub that kept their dog safe, but don't expect a grassy garden, and check parking if you are bringing two cars. A couple of guests also felt the bathroom fittings could do with a refresh.
For a cosy break for two plus a dog, with a dog-friendly pub, a hot tub and country walks all a few steps away, Farriers Cottage delivers.
