Foundry Farm House is a large village house in the middle of Bellingham, and it works well for the kind of trip where two or three families travel together with dogs in tow. It sleeps eight across four bedrooms, and groups arriving with children and dogs have found the size and layout genuinely comfortable rather than merely adequate.
The hot tub is the headline feature and guests report it well looked after - clean and properly hot on arrival, which is not always a given. The house is well stocked with the everyday things you would otherwise have to buy on the first afternoon.
Bellingham suits dogs particularly well. The shops are a short walk, several pubs nearby welcome dogs, and good walking starts from the village rather than from a car park twenty minutes away. The Pennine Way passes through, and the wooded walk up to the Hareshaw Linn waterfall begins in the village itself and makes an easy half-day out. Two things are worth planning for. The house has arrived cold and taken several hours to reach a comfortable temperature, so in winter it is worth asking about heating the place before you get there. One group reported a broken toilet that was not fixed during their stay, and the lounge seating is light for a house that sleeps eight - though there is a large table nearby that groups have used instead. Tea towels have been missing.
