Fullers Hill Cottages

Fullers Hill Cottages is a small cluster of high-spec self-catering apartments in Little Gransden, a quiet south Cambridgeshire village within driving distance of Cambridge and St Neots. The cottages are run as a personal-host let with the kind of thoughtful pet-traveller touches that distinguish a property that takes dog bookings seriously rather than just allowing them.

The dog-welcome detail is unusually well-considered. Recent pet-travelling guests have specifically called out dog treats provided on arrival and - rare among holiday lets - the owners printing out a custom map of all the walks available in the local area. There is also a hot tub on-site that has been mentioned by multiple guests as a highlight of the stay. The interior is cosy and well-equipped with the small extras (towels, robes, a thorough guest book) that take the friction out of a self-catering arrival.

Two honest caveats worth knowing before booking. First, the property has a clear pet fee published on Agoda - fifty pounds per stay - so factor that in to the booking maths. Second, the cottages are clustered fairly close together, near the owners' home, the road and the hot tub area, so privacy is more "village mews" than "remote retreat". Recent guests have specifically flagged this; if a fully private hot tub or a secluded base is what you want, look at more rural options.

Little Gransden itself is small and quiet, with limited eating-out options in the immediate village (we covered Bluebell Annexe in the same village in a separate write-up, with the same overall picture). Cambridge city centre is about twenty-five minutes by car, and the surrounding farmland and quieter B-roads give straight-from-the-door walks, which is partly why the owners' walk map matters.

Best suited to: couples or small families with one or two well-mannered dogs who want a thoughtfully-hosted Cambridge-area cottage with a hot tub and don't mind paying the published pet fee.
