Harpers Hideaway is a 4-star whole-house holiday rental in central Brixham (Devon, TQ5 8JA), close to the harbour with views and a hot tub. It works for a couple or small family travelling with one well-behaved dog, but there are two structural caveats specific to dog-owning guests that are worth knowing before you book.

The first caveat: the stairs are reported as steep and tricky to navigate with a dog. Both past pet-traveller stays flagged this directly - one mentioned a gate would help keep dogs (and young children) safe at the top, the other noted it was difficult coming down with the dog. For a small or younger dog this is more of a daily inconvenience than a blocker; for an older dog, a large dog, or a dog with mobility issues, plan around it before booking.

The second caveat: parking is genuinely tight. There is off-road parking technically available but you'll be very lucky to get a space - typical of central Brixham. Combined with the steep streets in this area, getting bags and dog out of the car can be a small adventure on arrival.

The property itself is well-decorated, modern, very clean, with a hot tub (water temperature noted as inconsistent by one past guest), complimentary Prosecco, harbour views and all the self-catering basics well covered. Location is good for Brixham harbour walks, dog-friendly cafes, and the South West Coast Path toward Berry Head.

Best suited to a couple or small family with one able-bodied dog who will cope with the steep stairs, and who'll appreciate a well-equipped whole-house base in central Brixham.
