Latrigg House is a four-bedroom, four-bathroom townhouse five minutes' walk from the middle of Keswick, sleeping up to ten - one of the few genuinely group-sized dog-friendly bases in the town, with two dogs welcome. It carries a 4.1 paw rating across the dog-stay feedback so far, and the pattern in that feedback is consistent enough to plan around.

The thing every dog owner should know before booking: the listing's outdoor space is not a garden in any useful sense. It is a small front drive behind a stable-style gate, so dogs are leashed for every toilet break, and guests who arrived with two dogs expecting the advertised garden have said plainly it was not what they hoped for. If your dogs need somewhere to potter off-lead at the house, this is not it - budget for lead trips, morning and last thing.

What redeems it - and why dog-owning groups still rate the stays - is everything else. Keswick is arguably the Lakes' best dog town: Fitz Park's riverside flats are a couple of minutes away, the climb up Latrigg itself (the house's namesake fell, one of the best effort-to-view ratios in the district) starts from the edge of town, and Derwentwater's shoreline walks are close. The house itself gets consistent praise for space and comfort: every bedroom en-suite, plenty of hot water, off-road parking for three cars, and a kitchen that copes with a full house.

Honest smaller notes from the wider pool: housekeeping between stays has occasionally missed dog hair from previous guests, towels run thin, and the dining setup is snug for the full ten. Confirm any pet charge directly when booking.

Best suited to a multi-family or walking group with one or two well-managed dogs who will spend their days on the fells and just need comfortable central beds - not to owners needing enclosed garden time at home.
