Lingmoor is a small guesthouse on Windermere High Street, run by a hands-on host called Ruth, that has built a small but loyal following among walkers travelling with a dog who want a central base rather than a self-catering cottage on the edge of the village. It is one of the few central Windermere B&B-style options that consistently welcomes dogs at the room.

The pet-traveller signal is short and practical. Reviewers picked up the property for the combination of a friendly welcome from Ruth and a location that puts you within a few minutes of Windermere station, the main carparks, the shops on the high street, and the bus services running down to Bowness. That walking-everywhere setup is exactly what most pet travellers want from a Windermere base, particularly when arriving by train.

What guesthouse stays cannot offer is private outdoor space. There is no garden attached to the room and dogs are expected to be on the lead in any communal areas. Guests with energetic dogs should plan day walks straight from the door (Orrest Head behind the village is the obvious short one) rather than rely on the property itself for downtime. Rooms are described as basic but clean, with one or two reviewers flagging that mattress condition varies room to room.

Best suited to a solo walker or a couple travelling with one or two settled dogs who want central Windermere access, will spend the day out on the fells, and are content with a basic room as a base. Less suited to anyone wanting whole-house privacy or a private garden for the dog.
