Every dog-travelling guest in its history scores it full marks: a 5.0 paw rating across six dog stays, against a 5.0 overall average from ninety reviews. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome.

What sets it apart is infrastructure most dog-friendly cottages simply don't have: a 50-by-50-metre dog exercise field with six-foot fencing, added recently and repeatedly singled out by guests - rescue dogs and flight risks get genuinely safe off-lead running without leaving the farm. On top of that, owners describe a proper dog welcome: feeding bowl, food mat, poo bags and treats waiting on arrival, down to biscuits left for the dog. Even relaxed-but-nervous rescues are reported settling quickly.

The house itself is a luxurious two-bedroom conversion for four - wood burner, exceptional interiors, spotless housekeeping - with a private patio plus the complex's shared lawn and barbecue. The location earns its keep too: Mawnan Smith village is walkable, the Helford River's wooded creek paths and Grebe Beach are minutes away, Maenporth and Falmouth's beaches are a ten-minute drive, and the coast path connects the lot.

Caveats are few and practical: this is a shared complex on a working farm, so sociable dogs suit it best, and the exercise field is shared with the other four barns - peak-week etiquette applies. Confirm any pet charge directly when booking, as the listing doesn't state one.

Best suited to couples or small families whose dogs need real, secure off-lead space - especially rescues and escape artists - wrapped in a stay comfortable enough that the humans feel equally indulged.
