How this review was built Evidence, sources, refresh cadence
- Evidence: 13 pet-mention guest reviews sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 5 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 9.9/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: September 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.

Pet-friendly summary
Minffordd is a large holiday house in Newborough (Niwbwrch) on the south-west corner of Anglesey, and it is the kind of place extended families book with the dogs simply assumed into the plan. Groups of ten with two dogs fit without anyone tripping over each other, and the garden is the star: enormous, split into separate sections, and secure enough that guests happily let their dogs mooch while the humans play cricket on the lawn.
The listing allows up to two pets per booking. Practical touches help too - there is a utility room with its own door onto the garden, which works well as a boot-and-dog room on muddy days, and dog walks start straight from the door rather than the car.
The owner gets warm mentions across years of reviews: greeting arrivals in person, offering local suggestions, and staying easy to reach when something needs sorting. The house itself is comfortable and well equipped, if a little worn in places - most guests read that as homely rather than a fault.
Location is the other draw. Newborough beach and the surrounding forest and dunes are minutes away, with some of the best dog walking in North Wales through the pine woods, and the rest of Anglesey within an easy drive.
Two things are worth knowing before you let a dog loose. The wall at the front of the house borders the main road through the village and is low enough that a big, athletic dog could get over it, so the front section needs supervision even though the rest of the garden is well enclosed. And there are sheep in the adjoining field, which means leads on the doorstep and good recall beyond it.
For multi-generation gatherings where the dogs are family, Minffordd is about as well suited as Anglesey gets, and it earns a 4.8/5 paw rating.
