Bring your dog if
- You're happy with a standard hotel-room stay where the property welcomes dogs
- You're basing yourself in Sheffield / the Derbyshire and want a pet-friendly anchor for day trips
Worth knowing
- Pet fee: £15 per room per night (max 2 pets) - research-verified; confirm at booking
- Shared corridors and common areas mean nervous or vocal dogs may find it harder to settle
How this review was built Evidence, sources, refresh cadence
- Evidence: 59 pet-mention guest reviews sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 853 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 8.3/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: October 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.

Pet-friendly summary
Mosborough Hall Hotel is a historic hall turned hotel on the southeastern edge of Sheffield, and it takes dogs without much fuss. The welcome comes with conditions, though. Pets are only allowed in the standard double and twin rooms, and you need to ring the hotel before booking to make sure one of those rooms is free for you and your dog.
That room rule is the thing to plan around. One guest who booked an executive room was moved down to a standard double once the hotel knew a dog was coming. If you want more space or one of the rooms in the old part of the hall, the dog will decide for you.
Once you are in, the staff are the hotel's strongest point. Guests who travelled with dogs say staff did not mind the dog at all, and one says theirs was spoilt rotten during the stay. Reviews in general keep coming back to friendly, helpful people in the bar, the restaurant and at breakfast. The bar lounge looks out over the grounds and is a pleasant place to sit in the evening, and the restaurant is the part of the hotel most guests enjoy.
The setting is suburban and fairly quiet. There are grounds around the hall for a quick leg stretch, and Mosborough village has a craft bar and coffee shop within walking distance. Rother Valley Country Park is a short drive away for proper walks, and the Peak District, with Bakewell and Buxton, is within easy reach for a day out with the dog.
The drawbacks are real. Several guests find the rooms tired and on the small side, and some miss air conditioning. Check-in is often done on a screen, and rooms are not serviced daily, so you may need to ask reception for fresh tea, coffee or toilet roll. The hall is a popular wedding venue, which can mean noise late into the evening, and parking can be tight.
It suits a couple with one or two dogs who want a friendly base between Sheffield and the Peak District, and who are happy in a standard room.
