- Evidence: 6 pet-mention guest reviews sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 91 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 9.4/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: October 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.
Pet-friendly summary
Nisbet's Tower is a memorable place to bring a dog to the Berwickshire coast. It is a small historic tower set on a private lane above Eyemouth harbour, and guests travelling with dogs enjoy it for its character as much as its location, giving it a 4.5/5 paw rating.
There is no published pet policy for the tower, but guests do mention paying for their dogs on top of the rental, so confirm the charge and how many dogs are allowed when you book.
Inside, the tower is cosy and kept immaculately clean, with a well-equipped kitchen and a welcome bottle of wine on arrival. Parking is right beside the building, and the lane beyond is used only by walkers, so there is no through traffic to worry about when you step outside with a dog.
The setting is the real draw. The town, harbour and beaches are a few minutes away on foot, and the coastal path runs north to St Abbs, its nature reserve and lighthouse, which makes for a superb day's walk. The footbridge across the harbour has been removed, so the walk into town now takes around fifteen minutes.
A few things are worth knowing. The garden has iron railings that a smaller dog can slip between, so plan on keeping yours on a lead there. The windows face inland, so the sea views are from outside rather than from the sofa. Storage is tight, the outdoor light has been known to fail, which matters on dark winter evenings with a dog to take out, and one guest could not get the TV or wifi working. Out of season Eyemouth is very quiet, with much of the town closed. Check-in is from 4pm and check-out is 10am, which some feel makes a weekend short. For a couple with a well-behaved dog after a quirky coastal base, it is an easy recommendation.
