Pet-friendly summary
Noble Cottage is a comfortable, central base for a Lake District break with a dog. It sits just off the middle of Keswick, so pubs, cafes and shops are a short stroll away, and guests travelling with one or two dogs speak warmly of their stays, giving it a 4.4/5 paw rating.
Dogs are accepted, and families regularly bring them along on multi-generational trips, with plenty of room for six adults and a dog or two. Guests like the welcome bottle of bubbly and nibbles, the well-stocked kitchen and, above all, the private parking space behind the house, which is a rare thing in Keswick.
For walks, Fitz Park is close by and is where many dog owners head for the first and last outing of the day. Derwentwater and the fells are a short walk or drive away, and Keswick itself has a good number of pubs that welcome dogs.
The main caveat is outdoor space. There is only a small gravel yard at the back, not a garden, and the shared green across the car park is not enclosed and carries a no-dog-fouling sign, so it is not somewhere to let a dog out. Guests who were told otherwise were understandably disappointed. The stairs are steep with a bend, which matters for older dogs as well as people, and a few guests found the lounge carpet in need of a clean, with a doggy smell, though more recent guests described the house as spotless.
If you want to walk out of the door into town with your dog and you do not need a garden, Noble Cottage is a strong choice. If your dog needs a secure outdoor space, look elsewhere.
