How this review was built Evidence, sources, refresh cadence
- Evidence: 3 pet-mention guest reviews sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 430 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 8.8/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: October 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.

Pet-friendly summary
Par Sands Coastal Holiday Park is one of the easier places in south Cornwall to bring a dog, largely because of what self-catering gives you: your own caravan, your own front door, and a beach at the end of a short path rather than at the end of a drive. Dog owners staying here talk about walking down for sunrise on the sand before the day starts, which is not something most Cornish stays make simple.
The park gets consistent praise for its grounds - well kept, spacious and quiet - and the caravans are generally reported clean and well presented. Staff are described as helpful. Some of the holiday homes have decking, and that is the detail dog owners pick out most: a raised outdoor space where a dog can lie in the sun beside you, or where the door can be left open without worrying about the dog wandering off.
That last point is also the main frustration. Not every caravan has decking, and it cannot reliably be requested at booking, so guests who came specifically wanting enclosed outdoor space have been disappointed with what they were allocated.
The pet terms are specific: adding a dog costs £30 per pet for a three or four night stay and £50 per pet for a week, with up to two dogs per booking, kept on a lead around the park and never left alone in the accommodation. There is a dog wash station on site for rinsing off sand after the beach.
The other caveats are about comfort rather than dogs. Beds and seating draw the most criticism, and cleaning is not always thorough - dust on top of units, marks on the blinds. The indoor pool is small and has to be pre-booked. The beach on the site's doorstep can gather a lot of seaweed at times, which bothers a dog far less than it bothers a swimmer, and the neighbouring pub's food gets poor reviews.
Best suited to dog owners who want a self-catering base within walking distance of sand, and who plan to spend their days out on the Cornish coast rather than on the park itself. It earns a 4.2/5 paw rating.
