Primrose, Loveston

Primrose is a hut for two on Pembrokeshire Barn Farm at Loveston, tucked into the rolling farmland of south Pembrokeshire a short drive from Tenby and the coast, and dogs are as much a part of the picture here as hot tubs and countryside views. It is one of a small cluster of huts on the farm, each set in its own sectioned-off plot, so you get real privacy without a neighbour looking over your shoulder.

The setup works unusually well for dogs. The private plot around the hut does the job of a garden, and guests arriving with one or two dogs describe them roaming the grass and jumping through it with obvious delight, with the surrounding fields and lanes providing walks straight from the door. The views over open countryside come up again and again in guest reports, and the peace of the spot is a large part of why people say they wished they had stayed longer.

The welcome earns consistent praise too. Guests are met on arrival, shown around and then left to themselves, with a contact number on hand if anything comes up, and small touches in the hut - a very comfortable bed, a well-stocked fridge, the private hot tub - are mentioned repeatedly.

Caveats are few and minor. There is little outdoor lighting, so a late-night trip out with the dog is genuinely dark and a torch by the door is worth packing, and the outdoor seating leans practical rather than plush - some guests bring their own chairs for lounging. Neither dents the picture: the dog owners who have reviewed it so far rate the stay very highly indeed.

Primrose suits couples who want a quiet, private base with the dog along - somewhere to walk from the door, sit out with a drink and end the day in the hot tub. On the reviews dog owners have left to date it earns a 4.6/5 paw rating.
