Pet-friendly summary
Puffin Cottage is a comfortable country cottage on a private woodland estate in west Carmarthenshire, and dog owners love the space their dogs get to explore. It takes up to three pets and earns a 4.6/5 paw rating.
The grounds are the highlight. The estate covers around 40 acres of woodland, paths and lawns, so there are plenty of dog walks without leaving the site, and guests say they felt safe walking their dogs around it. There is a fishing lake, a heated covered pool for the humans, and big rural views at sunset. The cottage has its own small enclosed patio, which is handy for privacy and for letting dogs out.
The owners live on site and are described as friendly, attentive and happy to help without intruding. Inside, the cottage is spacious, clean and well equipped for self-catering, although the beds and sofa are not to everyone's taste. Pendine Sands, Narberth and the Pembrokeshire coast are all within a reasonable drive.
The main thing to know is that the lawned garden is shared with two neighbouring cottages, and other guests may have dogs too. Some owners wished for a private garden so their dogs could run around without meeting other dogs. Guests without dogs have also complained about other people's dogs roaming loose, getting into cottages and fouling the lawn where children play. Keep your dog close in the shared areas and pick up after it, and expect to share the grounds with families and children.
For dog owners who want a quiet rural base with plenty of walks on the doorstep, and who are happy to keep their dog under control around other guests, Puffin Cottage is a lovely choice.
