This studio sits on a residential street in Selsey, a few minutes on foot from the seafront and about twenty minutes' drive from Chichester. It is a converted garage in the owner's garden rather than a holiday cottage, and guests who have travelled with dogs are clear-eyed about that: the appeal is a compact, self-contained space with its own door, its own parking and grass immediately outside, close enough to the beach that the first walk of the day needs no car.

The owner keeps dogs herself, and dog-owning guests repeatedly describe the welcome as the strongest part of the stay. Several are repeat visitors whose dogs are recognised on arrival. Walks along the shingle and the wider Selsey Bill coast are the main draw, and guests note that shops and a supermarket are within easy reach on foot.

The outdoor space needs care before booking, because guest accounts of it genuinely differ. Many describe a private, enclosed garden area secure on all sides and ideal for letting a dog out. Others describe something less clear-cut: one party found the garden was shared with the owner's, with the resident dog barking at theirs through the stay, and another found it overlooked by neighbouring houses. Anyone relying on secure outdoor space should confirm exactly what is fenced and what is shared before they book.

Two further points come up from dog owners specifically. There is no step down from the door to the outside, which one party with an older dog found awkward. And cleanliness has been inconsistent: guests have arrived to find remnants of previous dogs under the furniture, mud tracked by the door, and on one occasion a stuffy, faintly unpleasant smell. Barking from dogs on the wider site has been noted more than once.

Best suited to owners of settled, quiet dogs who want a cheap, easy coastal base within walking distance of the sea, and who are not depending on a fully secure garden.
