Seaspray, Withernsea

Seaspray is a roomy self-catering house at the top of a quiet cul-de-sac on the edge of Withernsea, on the East Yorkshire coast, close enough to the sea to hear the tide from the garden. The big draw for anyone travelling with dogs is the large enclosed back garden, secure enough to let a dog off the lead while you sit in the sun-filled conservatory and watch the water.

Spurn Point and the Holderness coast are an easy drive.

Some practical points. The steps down to the beach are steep and there are around forty of them, so it is a careful descent with an older or nervous dog, and there is no outside tap or hose for rinsing a sandy one off afterwards. The fence on the boundary with the neighbouring plot is low enough for a keen jumper to clear, and there are rabbits about to tempt one. A small static caravan park backs onto the garden, though guests consistently describe it as quiet.
