Seastones is a large self-catering house on Pier Avenue in Southwold, about ten minutes on foot from the town centre and close to the pier. It is let whole, so a dog has the run of the place with no shared corridors, and there is a garden, parking and enough indoor space that a wet dog and a family can coexist comfortably. Guests travelling with dogs are consistent about the location: the walk into town is flat and easy, and there are dog walks close by.
Two things need saying plainly, because both involve dogs getting hurt or getting out. The decking steps down to the garden become genuinely hazardous in wet or icy weather, the outside light does not throw enough light to see them properly after dark, and there are no warning signs. A stay was cut short after a dog and its owner both slipped badly on those steps in the dark, with a vet visit needed afterwards. Separately, the garden is called secure by some guests and not secure by others, and a small dog got through into the neighbouring property while it was being renovated. Treat the enclosure as unproven and check it yourself before letting a dog off the lead.
The house is otherwise comfortable and well stocked, with a welcome bottle and tea and coffee provided, though the interior is described by several guests as tired and dated in places and the garden as good but not well maintained. Small gaps in the kit have caught people out too, including no bin bags and no ignition for the hob.
