Pet-friendly summary
Sengador is a roomy holiday bungalow in a quiet street in Highcliffe, near Christchurch, a couple of minutes from the clifftop and the beach, and it suits beach-loving dogs very well. It earns a 4.8/5 paw rating, and plenty of dog owners have rebooked for another year.
The back garden is fully enclosed and secure enough for small terriers, with shade in different corners on hot days. An outside tap and hosepipe make it easy to rinse sandy dogs after a walk, and some stays have found dog treats waiting on arrival. Up to two pets are accepted. A house rule has kept dogs out of the bedrooms, so anyone whose dog sleeps beside the bed should check before booking.
Just across the road, a path leads down to the shore, where a dog-friendly beach stretches for long walks in both directions, and Highcliffe's shops, cafés and a park with green space are a short walk away. Mudeford, Hengistbury Head, Barton on Sea and the New Forest are all a short drive.
There are a few things to know. The paths down to the beach have steps and slopes, so they are less suited to anyone who struggles walking. The side path and garden have little outdoor lighting, so a torch helps for late-night garden trips. Some of the crockery and beds are showing their age, and the warm-air heating can leave the bathroom chilly.
For a family or couple with one or two dogs who want beach walks every morning without needing the car, Sengador is an excellent base on this stretch of coast.
