Serenity, Ingoldmells

Serenity is a modern static caravan at the quiet back end of a holiday park at Ingoldmells, a mile or so up the coast from Skegness, and it is one of the better dog set-ups on this stretch. The veranda is the reason. It is boarded in with solid fencing and tinted glass rather than open railings, so a dog can lie out with you while you use the hot tub without being on show to the whole park or able to trot off it. Arriving dogs have been left treats of their own, and the listing caps a booking at two dogs.

The practical side is strong. There is parking directly outside, ramped access to the door, two bathrooms and a powerful shower, a spacious master bedroom and enough storage for a longer stay. The beach, the shops, the market and the funfair are all walkable, with Skegness an easy drive when you want more. Because the van sits at the rear of the site it stays quieter than its address suggests, and the hot tub is serviced daily rather than left to the guest.

The record is not uniformly happy and dog owners should have both halves. Most stays are enthusiastic, several from people whose dogs had never been away before. But there are also reports of the living-room carpet smelling of damp and dog, and of a stay that ended in a dispute with the owner over a damaged hot tub lid, a withheld deposit and an unreturned parking permit. Other guests describe the van as clean with no animal smell at all, so the carpet reads as an occasional lapse rather than the norm - but give it a check when you arrive, and photograph anything already damaged before you settle in, because the deposit disagreement turned on exactly that.

Best for a family or a couple with one or two dogs who want a hot tub, a short walk to the sand and somewhere the dog can sit outside with them.
