The farmhouse sits at the end of a quiet track in the hills a few miles south-west of Skipton, surrounded by fields and long views, and guests travelling with dogs are close to unanimous in their praise, giving it a 4.8/5 paw rating.
Dogs are welcome, with a charge of £25 per pet per week and room for up to two. Groups of eight, ten or more regularly bring one or two dogs along and still find plenty of space. The owners are a big part of the appeal: they live on the dairy farm down the lane, call in with home-made cake, marmalade and fresh milk, bring extra logs, and have invited children down to watch the cows being milked.
For walks, you can head straight out from the door into the surrounding fields and lanes, and dog owners describe their dogs having a whale of a time with all the new smells. Skipton, the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and the southern Dales are a short drive away for longer days out.
The main thing to plan for is that the garden is not secure. Dogs that wander need keeping on a lead around the house, particularly as this is working farmland with livestock nearby. It is also worth packing a torch for late-night walks, as the track is dark, and one guest felt a couple of corners could have been cleaner.
