Sunny Days is a small holiday cottage a few minutes' walk from Weymouth beach, and dogs are part of the normal booking rather than an exception. It is a whole house to yourselves, so there are no shared corridors or lifts to manage, and there is an off-road parking space right by the door for the sandy return from the seafront.

The property's own wording on numbers is not quite consistent: one line says one well-behaved dog is welcome, another says one large dog or two small ones. If you are planning to bring a pair, settle that with the owner before booking. No pet fee is published.

Guests travelling with dogs are warm about the cottage itself. The kitchen is properly equipped, the beds are comfortable and it is heated well enough for an off-season break. Guests come back to it. The sitting-room furniture sits low, which is worth knowing if getting up and down is an effort for you or an older dog.

The thing to plan around is the courtyard. There is a small outdoor space with planters, but the gates cannot be shut once a car is parked off-road, so it is not somewhere to let a dog out unsupervised. Dog owners have taken to blocking the gap with the pots, and the missing gate comes up from guests without dogs too. The front door also opens onto a route that carries late-night foot traffic, and dogs that react to people passing have kept their owners awake - enough, on occasion, to cut a stay short.

That makes Sunny Days a good fit for a settled dog and an owner content to use a lead in the yard, or for a party arriving without a car.
