The Cosy Cottage sits in the middle of Litcham, a small Norfolk village between Swaffham and Dereham, and it is about as convenient a village base for a dog walker as you will find. A few other practicalities. Parking is a lay-by rather than a drive and it fills up, which can mean carrying bags and dog beds a short distance. The road outside the bedroom gets busy from around six in the morning, so light sleepers should expect early starts. The log burner is out of use between May and September regardless of the weather.

The wider area does the rest of the work: the north Norfolk coast and the beaches around Wells are roughly half an hour away, and the Broads about fifty minutes.
