Bring your dog if
- You want a whole-property rental - no shared lobbies or corridors to navigate with your dog
- You're basing yourself in Coverack / the Cornwall and want a pet-friendly anchor for day trips
- The wider guest experience is strong - guests rate this 8.6/10 overall on booking platforms
Worth knowing
- Paw rating is based on 2 reviews - limited sample, treat as directional
- Pet fee and any size restrictions aren't published - confirm directly with the property before booking
- Shared corridors and common areas mean nervous or vocal dogs may find it harder to settle
How this review was built Evidence, sources, refresh cadence
- Evidence: 2 pet-mention guest reviews sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 212 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 8.6/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: September 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.
Pet-friendly summary
The Paris Hotel sits right above the cove at Coverack, on the eastern side of the Lizard peninsula, and it is about as well placed as a dog-friendly stop on the South West Coast Path gets. The path runs past the door, the beach and harbour are a few steps away, and walkers who have stayed with dogs describe it as the perfect end to a long day: a bar, a plate of good food and a sea view, without having to get back in the car.
The property has not published a pet policy, so there is nothing on record about charges, weight limits or how many dogs a room can take. What guest feedback does show is that dogs are made welcome in practice, particularly walkers' dogs arriving off the coast path, but confirm the details directly before you book.
The pull of the building is the view. Rooms are simple and on the small side, and the ones facing the bay have large windows over the water that earn consistently strong marks for sunrises and sunsets. Beds are comfortable, staff get warm praise for being friendly and helpful, and the kitchen and bar are genuinely good: freshly cooked breakfasts, reasonably priced evening meals and decent beer.
Coverack is a small fishing village with a shingle-and-sand beach, and the walking either side of it is superb. The coast path runs north towards Porthoustock and the Manacles, and south towards Black Head and Kennack Sands, almost all of it off-road and interesting for a dog. Beach access is generally relaxed outside the summer restriction season, but check the signage at the slipway for the current rules.
The caveat is the fabric of the place. Alongside the praise, a steady run of guest reviews flags tired maintenance and patchy cleaning: sticky surfaces, flaking paint on bathroom ceilings, marked carpets, rusting fittings, and rooms that ran cold in the shoulder season. This is a characterful old seaside hotel doing a hard job in a salt-air location rather than a smart refurbished one, and the prices reflect that.
Best suited to coast-path walkers with a dog who want the view and the location above everything, and who will forgive a hotel that is worn around the edges. It earns a 4.5/5 paw rating.
