Astor House

Astor House is a period building on Warren Road, high above Torquay's harbour, divided into self-catering apartments with big windows and sweeping views over Tor Bay. Dogs of any size are accepted in the designated apartments, with food and water bowls waiting in the room. Cats are not accepted, and dogs cannot be left alone in the apartment, so plan meals out around places that take dogs. The fee is £15 per dog, per night, which owners find steep on a longer stay: a week with one dog adds £105.

Beacon Cove is under ten minutes' walk, and the harbour, seafront and town centre are all within easy reach on foot.

It is not flawless. Guests have reported apartments running warm with windows that barely open, a cramped shower or two, and a ground-floor apartment beside the road that can be noisy at night. Some visitors have also mentioned a damp, doggy smell in parts of the building.
