How this review was built Evidence, sources, refresh cadence
- Evidence: 17 pet-mention guest reviews sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 108 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 9.1/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: July 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.
Pet-friendly summary
Cathedral View is a modern, well-equipped cottage in the heart of Tideswell, one of the prettiest villages in the Peak District, and it makes an excellent dog-friendly base for a walking break. The whole cottage is yours, and guests travelling with dogs return to it for the easy access to the moors and dales right on the doorstep, plus a village full of dog-friendly pubs and cafes.
The location is the headline. Tideswell sits in the middle of the White Peak, so classic Peak District walks - Monsal Trail, Miller's Dale and the surrounding dales - are all within easy reach, and you can walk straight out of the village. Guests consistently praise how peaceful and beautiful the setting is, with restaurants and pubs a short stroll away.
Inside, the cottage is clean, modern and comfortable, recently refurbished, with everything needed for a relaxed stay and a genuinely dog-friendly setup. The hosts get repeated praise for being quick to answer questions and helpful with small requests, and parking is easy, which takes the friction out of arriving with a dog and walking kit.
A couple of small notes from recent guests: keep an eye on smaller dogs around the entrance and road, and as with any village cottage there is no large enclosed garden, so dogs are walked on the lead from the door rather than let out into a yard. Neither detracts from what is a very comfortable, well-placed base.
Cathedral View suits couples and families with dogs who want a modern, comfortable cottage in a beautiful Peak District village with superb walking and dog-friendly pubs on the doorstep. Walkers in particular will find it hard to beat as a base for exploring the White Peak with a dog.
