- Evidence: 3 pet-mention guest reviews sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 4 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 9.9/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.

Pet-friendly summary
Estuary View sits at the head of the Kingsbridge estuary in Devon's South Hams, with the water more or less across the road. For guests with a dog it is a well-placed base: quayside strolls start at the door, the town's shops are a few minutes on foot, and the whole South Hams coast is within easy reach. It earns a 4.6/5 paw rating from guests who have stayed with their dogs, some of them on repeat visits.
One pet is accepted per booking. Worth knowing before you book: guests mention an extra charge for bringing a pet, so check the current amount with the booking agent. Reviews are otherwise full of praise for the standard of the place - excellent housekeeping, bright comfortable beds, good WiFi and a parking space under the building. That parking comes with low headroom, so a roof box will not fit.
The location is the real seller for dog owners. The Crabshell Inn, a waterside pub that welcomes dogs, is directly across the road, and paddleboard hire operates from the same stretch of quay, so it is easy to fill a weekend without moving the car. Kingsbridge also makes a good jumping-off point for the beaches and coast path around Salcombe and the wider South Hams, several of which take dogs year-round.
One honest caveat from the review record: a party found that a previous dog's mess had been left on the balcony and, despite being reported, it was not dealt with during their stay, which kept the balcony out of use. It reads as a one-off housekeeping lapse rather than a pattern, but it is worth flagging anything similar early.
Best suited to a couple with one well-behaved dog after a comfortable, walkable waterside stay - less so for multi-dog households, given the one-pet limit.
