Flat 3 Seaside Haven, Hunstanton

Seaside Haven is a flat on Manor Road in Hunstanton, five minutes on foot from the beach and about fifteen from the town centre, which makes it the kind of base where the car can stay parked for the whole stay. There is a bus stop outside and a large supermarket within easy reach, and the busier sea-facing side of town, with its arcades and fairground, is a short walk in the other direction.

For dogs the useful detail is the enclosed front area. A fence runs around the entrance, so the front door can be left open on a warm afternoon without a dog getting out, and there is a patch of grass immediately outside for a quick trip before bed. Guests travelling with dogs single that out as the thing that makes the flat work. Owners of anxious dogs also note that a quiet street and a self-contained front door settle a nervous animal faster than a corridor hotel would.

The flat is compact and honest about it: a double and bunk beds in one bedroom, and a kitchen with a microwave, air fryer and fridge but no hob, so plan for simple meals rather than cooking properly. Hunstanton is easy going about dogs, with the sandy beach, the cliff-top green and the coast path all walkable from the door.

The caveat worth taking seriously is housekeeping between changeovers. Arrivals at a flat that had not been hoovered come up often enough to plan around, and for dog owners specifically there have been complaints of a lingering dog smell in the blankets left out in the lounge and of a vacuum cleaner already clogged with a previous dog's hair. It is not a dealbreaker at the price, but it is worth a look round on arrival and worth packing your own throw for the sofa.

Best suited to a couple or a small family with one steady dog who want an inexpensive, walkable base for the north Norfolk coast, and who care more about the fenced front and the location than about the fittings.
