How this review was built Evidence, sources, refresh cadence
- Evidence: 1 pet-mention guest review sourced from major booking platforms - guests who explicitly mentioned travelling with a dog. Each review is screened for pet-relevance, then judged for sentiment to compute the paw rating.
- Not a personal visit. We don't stay at every hotel we cover - we summarise patterns from real guest reviews, paraphrased and never quoted verbatim. Full standard on our editorial policy page.
- Wider context: The property has 12 guest reviews overall across booking platforms, averaging 8.6/10 - the paw rating reflects only the pet-mentioning subset.
- Last refreshed: October 2026. Policies and pricing drift; we re-check on a rolling basis. Confirm specifics with the property at the moment you book.
- How the paw rating works: Full detail on the methodology page, including the three verification gates and known limitations.
Pet-friendly summary
Hafan Hedd is a refurbished stone cottage in the fields between Llandeloy and Solva, set up for two people and a dog. It is a whole-property let with its own outdoor space and no shared access, and the countryside starts at the gate, which is the main reason it works as a base for a dog. Solva harbour is a short drive, St Davids a little further, and the Pembrokeshire Coast Path is close enough to make a morning walk straightforward.
The cottage itself has been finished to a good standard, and guests consistently pick out how comfortable and well equipped it is, with a notably comfortable bed and reliable wifi for somewhere this rural. Check-in is self-service and easy to find, and a bottle of wine has been left waiting for arriving guests. Dog owners have found it clean and comfortable, with no complaints about how the cottage handles a dog.
The location cuts both ways. It is genuinely quiet, and the surrounding lanes and fields are good walking, but there is nothing within walking distance - no shop, no pub - so you will be driving for meals and supplies, and that means either taking the dog along or leaving it behind. Feedback is not uniformly glowing either: alongside the strong reviews, guests have found the cottage below standard on cleaning and thinly kitted out in the kitchen, in one case with no means of lighting the fire. There is no hairdryer.
The booking listing sets out no pet fee and no limit on numbers, so check both with the owner before you travel, particularly if you are bringing more than one dog to a cottage this size.
Best suited to a couple with one dog who want somewhere quiet and comfortable to walk from, and who are happy to drive for everything else.
