Jacob's Meadow Pod 2 is a self-contained pod on a small hillside site in Powys, a few miles from Churchstoke and close to the Shropshire border. It is quiet to the point of remote, with hills on every side, a lawn and a terrace with furniture and a barbecue. The thing dog owners mention first is that the outdoor space is properly enclosed. Being able to open the door and let a dog out without first checking the fence line is rare in a rural let, and it earns the pod a 4.5/5 paw rating.
Up to two dogs are welcome per booking. The pod is a single unit with its own door and its own grass, so there is nothing to negotiate between the car and the sofa, and the walking starts at the gate: hill paths and bridleways run in several directions from the meadow.
Inside it is better fitted than the word pod suggests, with a modern bathroom and a shower guests rate highly. The site is compact and the owners leave guests to themselves.
The caveat is cleaning, and it is worth being straight about it.
