Promenade 852, Ingoldmells

Promenade 852 is a static caravan on the Lincolnshire coast at Ingoldmells, a few minutes from the sand and within earshot of the Fantasy Island funfair. For dog owners the appeal is uncomplicated: it is a genuinely pet-welcoming let in a place where the beach is the whole point, and arrivals have found dog treats waiting alongside the welcome pack.

Dogs are accepted here as a matter of course rather than merely tolerated, and the van is stocked with cleaning products, which tells you something about how it is used. A pet charge of £15 applies for each pet, per stay. No size restriction or limit on numbers is published, so check those before booking. Inside there is an air fryer and a decent-sized television, and the location is the feature guests rate most consistently.

The honest caveat is condition, and it is a significant one. The van is well past its best, described as tired and grubby in places, with staining on the sofa, dust and cobwebs, and fittings that no longer sit right. The recurring theme, raised by guests travelling with dogs and by guests travelling without them, is a strong dog smell, particularly in the double bedroom and around the sofa, which air freshener and warm weather both make worse. On a busy pet-friendly caravan that is a cleaning problem rather than an inherent one, but it is consistent enough that anyone sensitive to it should plan around it.

Two further points. Guests have been moved to a substitute van on arrival when the booked one was unavailable, and the replacement lacked the enclosed decking that makes a real difference with a small dog off the lead. Proximity to the funfair also means genuine evening noise.

Best suited to dog owners who want cheap beach access and will forgive a well-worn interior, and who would rather know about the smell in advance than discover it.
