Pet-friendly summary
Rhianfa is a large, old-fashioned holiday house on the edge of Aberdaron, near the tip of the Llŷn Peninsula, and its setting is what draws dog owners: the village, its long sandy beach and the coastal path are all within walking distance. It sleeps a big group and has a comfortable conservatory for wet evenings, but it is a house to book with your eyes open, and its 3.8/5 paw rating reflects that.
Up to two dogs can stay. Dog owners who have stayed enjoyed the location and the walks, with the village about ten minutes away on foot (a steep hill on the way back) and plenty of beaches to explore, though some local beaches have seasonal dog restrictions into September.
The big drawback for dogs, raised again and again by guests who brought them, is the garden. It is not enclosed, and it runs alongside a lane where cars, tractors and quad bikes can come past at speed. Dogs have to stay on a lead or be watched closely whenever they are outside, and owners of lively dogs found that stressful. Guests without dogs have flagged the same risk.
The house itself divides opinion. Some guests find it homely and well equipped, but many describe it as tired and in need of maintenance: cobwebs and dust, a leaking conservatory and washing machine, stained furniture, a second bathroom in an outbuilding and, at times, overflowing bins. Heating relies partly on open fires, so the house can feel cold out of season.
Rhianfa suits groups with calm, reliable dogs who are happy on a lead, and who value the Aberdaron location over polish. If your dog needs a secure garden to run in, look elsewhere on the peninsula.
