The Downs is a small Victorian guesthouse on the Babbacombe Downs cliff-top in Torquay, on the elevated promenade looking out across Lyme Bay. The dog policy is unusually specific: well-behaved dogs are accepted by prior arrangement at booking time for a small charge, with access limited to the bedroom and the lounge-bar — not the restaurant or the rest of the public areas. Guests are asked to bring their own dog bedding. Guide dogs are exempted from the charge and are allowed throughout the public areas.
