Pet-friendly summary
Ty Cuddfan is a spacious, high-spec barn conversion on a working farm at Llangoed, a couple of miles from Beaumaris on Anglesey's east coast, and it is a relaxed, well-thought-out base for a family holiday with a dog. It earns a 4.4/5 paw rating.
The garden is enclosed with dog-proof fencing, which guests travelling with dogs single out as ideal, and there is a patio with a barbecue for fine evenings. One dog is allowed per booking. Inside, there is plenty of room for six, with reclining sofas, a well-equipped kitchen and utility, and an open-plan living area, and the house is easy to get around, which groups with older or less mobile relatives have appreciated.
Being on a farm, the cottage looks out over fields of sheep, lambs and sometimes cows, which guests love to watch, so dogs will need to stay on a lead beyond the garden. The farm's own dog may also come to say hello. A small supermarket is within a few minutes' walk, a wooded path leads to an old castle and the beach nearby, and Beaumaris, with its dog-friendly pubs, is a short drive away. Plenty of the island's dog-friendly beaches are within an hour.
Complaints are few: beds divide opinion, a couple of towels have been stained, the large patio door facing the hills does not open, and the voice-controlled TV remote can be fiddly.
For families or groups with one dog wanting a peaceful, roomy Anglesey cottage with a secure garden, Ty Cuddfan is a very strong choice.
