Your privacy

What data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have under GDPR. Plain English. No dark patterns.

What data we collect

Analytics data

Anonymised data about which pages you visit, how long you spend on them, your approximate location (country / region — never finer), device type, and where you came from. Collected via Google Analytics, only after you consent.

Newsletter signups

If you subscribe to the newsletter, we collect your email address. It is stored securely with our email service provider and used solely to send the newsletter. Every email contains an unsubscribe link.

Cookies

Essential cookies (required for the site to function), analytics cookies (Google Analytics first-party cookies, two-year maximum lifespan), and a preference cookie that remembers your consent choice. We do not use advertising cookies.

How we use your data

We use it to

  • Understand which content is most useful

Aggregate page-level metrics let us see what's working — never anything tied to an individual.

  • Improve the site and guides

Slow pages, broken links, confusing navigation — analytics surface what to fix.

  • Send the newsletter to people who opted in

Only to people we've explicitly subscribed. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

  • Monitor site performance and fix issues

Error reports and uptime monitoring keep the site reliable.

We never use it to

  • Sell, rent, or share your personal data

We never sell or rent your data to third parties for their marketing purposes.

  • Build advertising profiles

We don't use advertising cookies, and we don't share cookie data with ad networks.

  • Track you across other sites

No cross-site trackers, no pixels for third-party ad platforms.

  • Personalise content based on your data

Same site, same content, regardless of who you are or where you've been.

Third-party services

The other companies whose tools we use to run the site.

Google Analytics

Web analytics (data processed in accordance with Google's privacy policy).

Google Tag Manager

Loads the analytics script. No data collected by the tag manager itself.

Newsletter provider

Email delivery for newsletter subscribers. Stores only the addresses you give us.

Cloudflare

Hosting and CDN. Standard server logs (IP addresses, request paths) retained briefly for security and debugging.

All third-party services are GDPR-compliant and process data in accordance with their respective privacy policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date at the top. If a change is material — meaning it affects how we use or share your data — we'll highlight it for at least 30 days at the top of the page and (for newsletter subscribers) flag it in the next newsletter.

Have a privacy question?
