Pet-friendly travel · UK
Hotels where dogs are guests,
not afterthoughts
Every stay is independently rated against real guest reviews from owners who brought their dogs. No fluff, no sponsored ranking — just what travellers with pets actually experienced.
- 87 hotels reviewed
- 13 UK destinations
- 475 pet reviews analysed
- 4.6/5 average paw rating
How we score pet-friendliness
Our paw rating is independent of a hotel's overall star rating. We surface only reviews where guests explicitly mention their pet, then weigh signals like: was the welcome warm, were dogs allowed in shared spaces, was there an extra fee, was outdoor access close by, and did the staff treat pets as guests rather than tolerated extras.
We never fabricate guest experiences and never publish verbatim review text. Themes shown on each hotel are paraphrased motifs, grounded in the source reviews we analysed.

Questions, answered
Bringing a dog away changes the questions you ask about a hotel. Here are the ones we hear most — written from how we actually compile these reviews.
- How do you decide which hotels are pet-friendly?
- Every hotel here has been judged on the experiences of real guests who travelled with their pets. We don't rely on a property's own marketing — what counts is what owners actually said about how their dog was received, what the rooms were like, whether the welcome was warm, and what worked or didn't. A hotel only earns a place on this site when there's genuine first-hand evidence behind it. Our full methodology walks through how the paw rating is calculated.
- What's the paw rating, and how is it different from the star rating?
- The paw rating (0–5) reflects only what pet-owning guests experienced — was the welcome warm, were dogs allowed in shared spaces, was there outdoor access close by, did staff treat pets as guests rather than tolerated extras. It's independent of the hotel's overall star rating. A 5-star hotel can carry a 3-paw rating if pet-owning guests reported a frosty reception; a quirky B&B can carry 5 paws if the dogs there have a great time.
- Are there extra fees or restrictions for pets?
- That varies by property. Many UK hotels charge a per-night pet supplement (typically £10–£30), restrict dogs from dining rooms or pool areas, or cap the number / size of pets per room. We surface the most commonly mentioned restrictions on each hotel page where we have the data — but always confirm the current policy at booking, because hotel rules change.
- Can I bring more than one dog?
- Most UK pet-friendly hotels accept one or two well-behaved dogs per room; some accept more, especially self-catering properties and country hotels. Larger groups should always email the property directly before booking — limits are commonly enforced via room size, not policy.
- How do I verify the pet policy before booking?
- Click through to the hotel from any review — the Agoda booking page lists the current pet policy, fee structure, and any room-type restrictions. We refresh those details daily, but the booking flow is the source of truth at the moment you book. We strongly recommend a quick email to the property confirming numbers and breed if you're travelling with anything larger than a medium-sized dog.
- Do hotels pay to be featured higher in the rankings?
- No. Rankings within each destination are driven by the paw rating only — most pet-loved first. We earn a small commission when readers book through our affiliate links, but no hotel can pay to appear, to outrank another property, or to influence the rating. Read our editorial policy and affiliate disclosure pages for the full position.
